A fat 1/8th yard will also work for this pattern.
Option: For the back you will cut your 1 yard of fabric into (2) 22" X36" pieces and sew them together into a 22" x 72" piece.
You will have enough from this piece to cut a 9 1/2" wide x 7" tall piece for the front.
